Instructions
To make the dough:
Mix by hand until the mixture is smooth, then add the vegetable oil and continue mixing by hand for a few more minutes. Cover the bowl and leave to rise for about 1 hour.
For the syrup:
Add 200 ml of water and Splenda Granulated to a deep saucepan and stir well. Once it has come to the boil, add the lemon juice and honey and boil for a further 2–3 minutes. Transfer to a deep bowl and set aside.
To fry the dough, pour sunflower oil into a deep pan and wait for it to heat up completely.
Stir the risen dough a couple of times with a spatula, then transfer it to a piping bag. Pipe out hazelnut-sized pieces directly into the hot oil. Using a slotted spoon, turn them occasionally to ensure the dough balls brown evenly on all sides.
As soon as the dough balls turn a golden yellow, remove them and immediately drop them into the syrup. Prepare the entire batch of dough in this way and transfer to a serving plate.
